De que se trata UNIVERSIDAD DE ALCALÁ
La Universidad de Alcalá, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, una de las universidades más antiguas de España, fundada en 1499 por el Cardenal Cisneros, y situada a unos treinta kilómetros del centro de Madrid. Por sus aulas han pasado algunos de los grandes nombres de la historia y la cultura españolas, como Lope de Vega, Francisco de Quevedo, Tirso de Molina, Fray Luis de León, Ignacio de Loyola, Juan de Mariana, Arias Montano, Ginés de Sepúlveda, o Gaspar de Jovellanos, entre otros. La ciudad de Alcalá de Henares es conocida por ser el lugar de nacimiento de Cervantes, creador del inolvidable Don Quijote de la Mancha.

Está situada en el centro de España muy cerca de la capital, solo a 30 kilómetros y del aeropuerto de Madrid Barajas (20 kilómetros).

Hoy la Universidad de Alcalá es una universidad moderna, que ofrece una amplia gama de titulaciones de Grado y Posgrado, adaptadas al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior, en todos los ámbitos del saber, desde las Humanidades a las Ingenierías, desde las Ciencias Sociales a las Ciencias Experimentales y Biomédicas.


La Universidad también cuenta con 16 bibliotecas con capacidad para 2.700 lectores y una gran colección digital que incluye más de 16.000 revistas electrónicas. El profesorado y el personal de investigación también tienen acceso desde su puesto de trabajo a los más de 10 millones de volúmenes digitales de la Biblioteca Nacional ubicada en el campus externo. La calidad de los servicios de la biblioteca de la universidad ha ganado el Sello de Excelencia Europea 400 +

La Universidad de Alcalá, además de poseer un rico patrimonio arquitectónico y artístico, herencia de su dilatada trayectoria histórica desde finales del siglo XV, es una universidad que apuesta por la innovación tecnológica y la colaboración con el mundo empresarial e industrial, así como por la internacionalización de sus estudios y su investigación. Alcalingua is the UAH’s Center for studying Spanish as a Foreign Language. It offers both directly-taught and distance-learning classes during the fall and spring semesters as well as during the summer term. It also provides courses in Spanish for specific purpose, such as Spanish for business, Spanish for tourism, etc. Alcalingua is moreover one of the sites which awards the official Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE). The Franklin Institute teaches courses in Spanish Language and Culture for foreign students in both Spanish and English during the fall and spring semesters in addition to the summer term. Regular classes are complemented with a variety of cultural activities, such as visits to museums, theatres, governmental institutions, trips to historical cities, etc. Its calendar and grading systems are adapted to those of the American university system. Foreign students can also join regular undergraduate and graduate classes at the University of Alcalá as visiting or exchange students if they are attending a regular programme at another university and can demonstrate knowledge of Spanish language at a level equal to or higher than level B1 of DELE.

Located in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, 35 km northeast of the city of Madrid, it has a population of around 200,000, the second largest of the region after the Spanish capital itself.  The centre of the city remains essentially medieval, with many winding cobbled streets, and many historic buildings.  The city hosts a large population of international students due to the presence of the University, and in particular its Spanish language and literature programs for foreign students. Alcalingua and the Foreing Languages Center, branch of University of Alcalá, are two of the major foreign language learning centers for students from abroad. Alcalá's excellent transport links with Madrid have led to its becoming a commuter town, with many of its inhabitants travelling to work in the capital.

More than 9,500 students enrol in the University of Alcalá for their postgraduate training. The University of Alcalá offers more than 200 postgraduate degrees, comprising research masters, taught masters, doctoral programmes and specially designed expert programmes, all adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). It is one of the Spanish universities with the largest number of postgraduate studies and life long ongoing education courses. All degree programmes include work experience internships in companies or research institutes. Features:One or two academic years in length. Master programmes with study loads of 60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits (two, three or four semesters). University Expert programmes with study loads ranging from 30 to 60 ECTS credits. Campus-based or online teaching. Period of study adapted to academic year or calendar year. All our degrees use the European system of ECTS credits, which is valid in more than 45 countries.
